Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is the most common opportunistic pathogen affecting renal transplant recipients, especially in first months. CMV-seropositive recipients (CMV R+) are at intermediate risk for CMV disease, but this enhanced among R+ receiving T-cell depleting induction, compared to non-depleting induction. In second group, data favor of prophylactic antiviral treatment with valganciclovir reduce disease sparse. retrospective and multicentric trial, we included 372 transplanted between January 2012 April 2015 During year following transplantation, occurred 5/222 patients (2.25%) prophylaxis group 9/150 (6%) no-prophylaxis (difference +3.7; 95% CI: 0.5-8; P = .002 non-inferiority). The incidence allograft rejection other infectious diseases was similar two groups. Graft patient survival were end follow-up. conclusion, absence did not appear have a deleterious effect
